The Achievement
We’re very proud to share the news of a huge achievement. Stratco has recently supplied and installed 10,100 lineal metres of 400 wide trough section and 10.6 tonnes of purpose made tapered flashings for The Te Ara Hou School in Napier, New Zealand.

The Challenge
The challenge was installing a square flat roofing profile on a curved roof with an inner radius of 36m and an outer radius of 49.5m. Tapered flashings were fixed across each sheet joint, running from 7mm wide to 170mm wide and 13.5m long. The guttering was cut into 1m segments, then fixed to a curved fascia using external brackets. All options were considered, and no other roofing system would have provided such an economic solution to the technical challenges of a flattened cone roof.

Congratulations to all involved.

Stratco Roofing Project

September 2006

Canterbury roofing manufacturer Stratco has launched a new roofing profile at a recent new product presentation spearheaded by double-amputee outdoor adventurer Mark Inglis.

One hundred and fifty guests at the Jade Stadium presentation were treated to Mark Inglis’ inspirational stories, from the breathtaking peaks and ridges of the Himalayas to the pain and anguish of a Christchurch hospital bed. Inglis’ tales from the Roof of the World were interspersed with references to Stratco’s new SunTile™ which has been positioned as a Roof for Your World.

Stratco SunTile™ is a scalloped profile steel roofing tile suited to a wide range of housing styles. The new product is complemented by specially designed ridge capping. The ridge cap is unique to Stratco and is expected to be very well received by the market.

There are benefits for both architects and installers. Each tile measures l300mmx370mm which provides design flexibility while the consequent ease of handling means quicker installation and minimised transportation costs. SunTile™ is a light weight roofing solution, mininfising the cost of framework and making it suitable for situations where unstable ground exists.

SunTile™ roofing has been designed, engineered and tested to comply with all building code requirements and the latest standards. The profile can be supplied in a wide range of colours and is ideal for new residential roofing, re-roofing and light commercial.

Stratco is a roofing and rainwater goods specialist, based in Christchurch and supplying trade customers in most parts of the South Island. SunTile™ complements the company’s already formidable range of roofing profiles and associated products.

In the upper North Island, Stratco products are available through the Stratco-owned Brownbuilt Metal Folding Limited in Auckland.
